Internship Position
We are looking for an intern to join the team developing a resources management software applied to maritime applications.
This role is related to the design and the development of a web application dedicated to management and scheduling of multiple resources such as peoples, vessels, and others. This will provide the chance to create generic backend and frontend tools to orchestrate a large amount of resources over a long period of time. The new team member will contribute to the development of state of art technologies in full-stack web applications, cloud-deployed software and modern UI/UX design, together with the rest of the team following an Agile approach.
The Internship is available at the Robotics Software and Intelligence (RSI) Division (Systems Department).
The candidate will mainly report to the RSI Team Lead.
- Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)
- Start Date: At the earliest
- Duration: 3 to 9 months
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Prototype User Interface components and pages using Figma.
- Develop:
- New components for the User Interface using React.js and Next.js following a Component Driven Methodology.
- REST API for data management using Python, Django framework, PostgreSQL and data exchange methods like HTTP, WebSockets, etc.
- Secure user authentication and data sharing processes for a web application.
- Deploy application using Docker and Traefik.
- Integrate external user interface components.
Skills and Experience
- Currently enrolled in the third year of Bachelor’s (minimum) or in a Master’s Degree in IT, web development or equivalent.
- A strong interest in the design, valorisation and use of diverse UI/UX and deploying them in production as part of large web applications
- Experienced with the development of libraries and frontend / backend JavaScript, Typescript, HTML and CSS.
- Good understanding of REST API, HTTP calls, and websocket communication.
- Proficient user of git version control tools
- Fast to learn and adopt new technologies
- Independent worker, results driven, with a good sense of responsibility
- Good level in English, both spoken and written.
Considered as Assets
- Experience with:
- Deploying large web applications in production using Traefik
- Web-based GIS projects (geoserver, openlayers, etc.)
- js or equivalent.
- Familiarity with and knowledge of:
- Web applications development using frameworks (e.g. React.js)
- User authentication development.
