Because of the highly changing environment in the financial sector with new technologies, emerging risks and ever increasing regulations, the Internal Audit functions of our clients need to continuously anticipate, improve and be fully up-to-speed to be able to act as trusted advisor to the Business.
With our Internal Audit services we help our clients to get the most out of their Internal Audit function, to support the Board and Management in reaching the organization’s objectives while managing risks and remaining compliant. Our dedicated professionals work with prestigious financial institutions across various sectors (banks, insurance companies, payment service providers, asset management), helping them with their internal audit challenges.
We currently offer the possibility to an ambitious student eager to learn more about Internal Audit, to support our team as an intern. You will have the chance to work in a knowledgeable and experienced team on various interesting topics related to Risk Management & Internal Audit in the financial sector, focusing on Business, IT, Compliance and Risk domains. This will be a unique opportunity for you to understand and experience how financial institutions are operating and how the Internal Audit function can support the Management of our clients to reach their strategy and objectives.
About the internship opportunity
The opportunities for an intern in our team are endless and include providing direct support on active client engagements, conducting market investigations and surveys and helping us to further enhance our processes and methodologies. There is no ‘one fits all’ approach: Together with you, we will define at the start of your internship the objectives and related activities, in line with your specific curricular needs and interests. The sky is the limit!
Some examples of activities we will be performing in the next months for which your support will be needed:
Assessing the maturity of the Internal Audit function and define recommendations for the Internal Audit function to better define its mandate, achieve objectives, improve efficiency and meet expectations based on benchmarking, collaborative surveys and functional performance considerations. Developing the overall internal audit universe and risk-based internal audit plan for approval by the audit committee of our clients. Performing the end-to-end execution of internal audit missions to review the suitability of internal control design and operating effectiveness and assess compliance with policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and market good practices. Establishing structured review methods for the key topics identified in scope of the audit mission. Reviewing the suitability of these processes and/or assess their compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Conducting topic-related market research, including surveys, benchmarking, etc. Most importantly you will work with the team towards a goal, for you to feel the achievements together with the team at the end of your internship experience.
Who are we looking for?
You are on-track for a master degree in (Applied) Economics, Commercial Engineering, Finance, Accountancy, Commercial Sciences – or something similar You have the ability to perform effective research and convey complex topics in a clear, understandable manner You have an interest and affinity in financial markets, business processes, risk management and compliance topics You are fluent in Dutch and/or French, with proficient level of business English You have excellent communication skills You have an analytical mind and an eye for detail, with accurate documentation capabilities You have a strong team spirit, balanced by a healthy sense of autonomy You are eager to learn more about the Financial Services market in Belgium and beyond.
