Our Hopper dredgers (TSHD) and Cutter dredgers (CSD) work around the world on the most challenging dredging projects. Being a sailor with DEME is not only sailing from A to B. You need to work with the dredging equipment, which you can only learn by doing it. If you have experience in dredging, please apply here.
You will work on board a TSHD, CSD or split barge depending on your motivation and skills, under the First Mate’s supervision
You are responsible for the watchkeeping, navigation, the dredging process, the maintenance of the dredging equipment and the daily operations on board
You contribute to the performance of the operational activities and the optimization of production
You maintain the safety on board
You update navigation charts and books
You will be communicating with the project managers, site superintendents, surveyors and local authorities. It is part of the daily job
You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nautical sciences or you followed an 'MBO-4' or ‘HBO’ education in a maritime academy or nautical institute
You hold a COC (Certificate of Competency in accordance with the international convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers 1995)
You speak and write fluent English
You are flexible to work on projects in Belgium and around the world
You have a valid Passport, Seaman's Book, Seafarers Medical
You have a strong awareness of Health, Safety and Environment
You have a hands-on and no nonsense mentality
Preferably you already have a basic experienced in dredging
